Google’s first foldable smartphone has been rumored for a very long time, but it’s finally set to launch this year. We’ve already seen it in leaked CAD-based renders, and today a new report talks about its weight.

The Pixel Fold will apparently be heavier than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4, the device that will actually serve as its main competitor. This may be related, at least to some extent, to another tidbit that emerged today, namely that the Pixel Fold will have a larger battery than the Samsung.

We don’t know exactly how much bigger yet, only that “the battery size will be closer to, but still well below, 5,000 mAh”. Closer to 5000mAh compared to the Z Fold4’s 4400mAh and the Oppo Find N2’s 4520mAh. So we’re guessing around 4,700 mAh?

For weight reference points, keep in mind that the Z Fold4 tips the scales at 263g. So the source of today’s rumor tells us to think of the Pixel Fold as a small tablet, which doesn’t sound all that exciting given that it won’t be a small tablet in size .

The image above purportedly compares the size of the unfolded Pixel Fold (red) with the unfolded Find N2 (green) and unfolded Galaxy Z Fold4 (blue). Like the Find N2, the Pixel Fold’s unfolded display will be in landscape mode, not portrait like the Z Fold4.

According to Google’s leaked launch plan, the Pixel Fold should become official at or “around” the Google I/O developer conference, traditionally held in May.
