You may know Ryan Reynolds as the star of hit movies like Foolproof, Deadpool and Detective Pikachu, but he’s also quite the entrepreneur. If you’re an Apple TV+ subscriber, you may have watched Welcome to Wrexham, which follows the story of the football club after it was acquired by Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. And you might have made a cocktail with Aviation gin, although Reynolds sold his stake to Diageo shortly before buying into Wrexham.
Reynolds is also part owner of Mint Mobile, a budget carrier that operates on T-Mobile’s network as an MVNO. Mint could soon go the aviation route, as insiders who spoke to Bloomberg say T-Mobile is in talks to acquire it.
According to insiders, Reynolds owns a quarter of the stock, so this could be another big payout (the sale of Aviation was reportedly a $610 million deal). Or not, no final decision has been made yet and both carriers have not officially commented.
P.S. One of the trademarks of companies owned by Ryan Reynolds is the actor’s funny commercials. For a while, Mint Mobile had its own streaming service that only streamed one single movie – the 2003 heist movie Foolproof (unfortunately, the services seem to be down now).
