Bizarre game-breaking bug traps High on Life players in Applebee’s. Players have taken to social media to report the issue, which while fun, disrupts High on Life and forces players to start over and lose their progress.

High on Life is the latest game from Justin Roiland, best known as the co-creator and voice of the extremely popular Rick and Morty cartoon. High on Life features a similar crude sense of humor and eccentric characters that appeal to Rick and Morty fans, but none of these players expected to find themselves trapped in an American Applebee’s restaurant.

Several High on Life players took to the site to denounce the issue with the game. Throughout the game, players will find themselves visiting an Applebee’s in space, but many report that once inside, they can’t leave. Restarting the game or reloading the last save doesn’t seem to be the solution. To make matters worse, some players reported glitches that caused them to appear in Applebee’s when they weren’t supposed to and then find themselves trapped.

At this time, the only known solution to this problem is to completely restart the game from scratch. High on Life isn’t a particularly long title, with an expected 100% completion of gameplay in 20-25 hours and completing the main quest in just ten. Even so, reaching this point in the game only to have one’s progress completely wiped due to a glitch won’t win you any favors with fans. Fortunately, many people play High on Life on Xbox Game Pass, so at least those players don’t have to feel like they wasted their money.

While this issue does not affect all players, it is unfortunately an issue that has been going on for some time and has yet to be addressed by developer Squanch Games. Reports of this issue date back to at least December 17th, when the High on Life update was released, but it did not address the issue. It’s likely that the developer will eventually release a patch to fix this issue, and it may be that the only reason they haven’t done so yet is because the team is resting during the holidays. Players who encounter this error and want to complete the game will have to restart, but for those who are willing to wait, putting the game aside and waiting for a new patch may be the best solution.
