The Xiaomi 13 is launching this Sunday, and one of the company’s vice presidents has revealed that it will be more powerful than gaming phones. Lu Weibing, also known by his Western name William Lu, said that in 2023 we won’t need dedicated Android gaming devices and the trend is “doomed to death”.

The vice president is also the president of Xiaomi China and the brand manager of Redmi, which means that we should not expect a Redmi K60 Gaming device, since the regular Redmi K60 should be enough for all the gaming needs of customers.

The Redmi K60 series is already in production as some spy photos have revealed. The lineup will consist of the Redmi K60E, a confirmed Dimensity 8200 chipset that has been developed with gaming in mind; the vanilla Redmi K60 with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and the Redmi K60 Pro with Qualcomm’s latest – the current flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Lu previously said that Dynamic Island is being tested by Xiaomi’s software development team, so we could see an Apple-like notification panel in the Redmi K60 phones, although the selfie cameras will remain in the corner.
